With the holidays over and New Year’s resolutions firmly underway, it’s time to start thinking about spring.  That means more time outdoors entertaining, playing and doing yard work.  With yard work, though, usually comes an increased water use.  The thing is that water is our planet’s most valuable resource and it is so often misused.  There are some great ways to conserve water that you may not even be aware of.

Every third Thursday in November we offer our thanks for the fortunate things and people in our lives. This Thanksgiving, one thing I will be thankful for is the growing concern that people have about our environment. So to kick off the holiday season, I want to compile a list that will make all our family gatherings eco-friendly. Here are four friendly tips that will go a long way.

1. Baking soda is poisonous to ants, spinkle it around your plants to ensure ants will stay away.

2. Flour & Baby Powder will keep ants from reaching your plants, ants will not cross the powder - so circle your plants with it.

3. You can use coffee grounds, chili powder, cinnamon, peppermint or black pepper.  All deter ants and if you pour coffee grounds directly on an anthill, they will eat the coffee grounds and implode.
